Hello,
Problem 1: I've installed the Windows Vista Beta 2 32-bit version and everytime Windows restarts my computer (due to initial installation or new software installation), it freezes at the screen that allows you to access the BIOS and other options (before Windows begins loading). If I restart the computer manually (using the button on the front of the computer) or shut down using Windows, everything works fine. It is only when Windows attempts to restart my computer. This isn't a problem for software that allows me to restart manually, but sometimes Windows forces a restart.
My Device Manager says that all of my hardware is up to date and it all works fine; however, I didn't install any drivers. Additionally, Windows Update has provided me the most recent critical updates.
Problem 2: At first, I attempted to install the 64-bit version and sometimes during boot up or when I would boot off of the Beta 2 DVD to install Windows, a blue screen would come up and force me to restart. Unfortunately, I did not write down the error code. But one thing it said was, "Disable BIOS memory options such as caching/shadowing". In the BIOS, I disabled "External Cache" and "C000, 32K Shadow".
But, now that I'm using the 32 bit version, should I enable these options? The blue screen doesn't comes up anymore, but it may be because those are disabled.
I believe my BIOS is up to date, but I do not know how to check. My motherboard is the MSI K8T Neo-FSR MB and the BIOS is version 3.31a. I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ 1.8GHz with an ATI Radeon 9600 XT. I have no sound card (using motherboard) and my speakers are in my monitor. My hard drive is NTFS and 60 GB.
Please help. Thank you.
